Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

Jackson Kneeshaw at Rockliffe HalljpgRockliffe Hall played host to this years Champion of Champions and wow did they get it right. Sponsored by the Journal Newspapers, they setting was perfect, I was announced to the tee at 8.20am one of 99 club champions. Feeling 100%, I new I could beat the course having played on Saturday and shot a par72 playing very average. Starting with three easy pars I then proceeded to leak shots from my trusty putter, driving was long and straight, long irons on the green but no way was that ball going in the hole. This culminated on the 17th, Rockliffe had cleverly moved the competition tee to a short par 4 at 345yds, get this I drove the green ran past the flag and settled against the fringe no more than 15 ft from the pin – there for one. Guess what, I three stabbed it! the first put lipped the hole, rolled off 18 inches away and yes I missed it, one of three puts I missed inside two feet, unbelievable! but true. No birdies in a round when I should have had five, puts missed on every hole when that is my best asset, yet I still loved every minuet, it was my last day before returning to college and I was going to enjoy it and I did. I presume the Journal paid for my Sunday roast which was beautifully presented and tasted first class – thank you The Journal Newspaper. Oh my score – did I forget to mention that, not great, but I was there and that’s what counts. Rockliffe Hall Golf is first class – If you play golf you simply must play Rockliffe Hall.
