As you may, or may not know i have recently been on a months trip over to the North of Spain, near Barcelona, I went to beat the bad weather in England and get out for a months golf with my college. I will be posting a diary very soon of the trips events and what happened everyday.
Today there was a matchplay order of merit, which I was paired up with post graduate Charlie Guest. Who plays off a handicap of 3 (i think). I was A/S after nine hole and about to play the 10th when the game got called off due to horendous weather. Which was a little unfortunate because we werent playing badly.
Today was a rather ordinary day with golf lessons in the morning and academics in the afternoon. Golf was promising with more swing thoughts and I was told that my swing is building up to be something really good. In the afternoon I went out to play golf because we had a free period, and i was spectating whilse Chris Olney and Jordan Holdway Battled it out over 9 holes, It was a good match with both golfers playing well however Chris Managed to pull through with a comfortable victory of 3 shots.
Today i played in an order of merit, Against Connor Brochurst. It was a good match in horendous conditions with thunder at one point!, however i pulled through for a 5 in 4 victory! after a steady par down 14. Yesterday I had a lesson with Dennis Pugh which was enlightening, with new swing keys to think about. Which helped me pull through todays round. All in all a good day. 🙂
Today was a order of merit competition, which I played consistantly to shoot a 70 +2, Could have been better when standing on the 16th tee i was 1 under par, nevertheless I should get cut for todays performance, which is always a positive.
As the first half of the term came to an end 2 weeks ago. I commence with the next half, I feel asthough I’m swinging it the best i have ever swung the club, and a busy week i have ahead of me. Tomorrow I have a lecture with mental coach Pete Cohen, which should be interesting and then the very next day I have a Order of Merit competition which i fancy my chances at.
Today was a pretty unsuccessful day with the competition. I did what Pete Cohen said and go out with no expectation and take it one shot at a time, however everyshot i played was up to scratch
TODAY: Today consisted of purely academics with a tough gym session for 1hr and a half after lunch. After more academics until the bus came to pick us up.
TOMORROW: We have a session with Pete Cohen, that should be interesting what he has to tell us, after our lecture we will get told to take what we have learned onto the golf course to aply the skills.
Today was a very challenging match. I was 1 up all the was until the 18th, and would win if i could only 2 putt from 60ft. However I 3 putted and I went down the 1st play off hole and lost. On another day I could have been 5 up if more putts dropped for me, however taking the positives I hit the ball aswome and the swin changes are veryvery promising.
Tomorrow we will have a new format for the OOM. The format for this week is match-play. Im playing someone called Ran Bhoval, who plays off 2 I think. I do fancy my chances of winning but never the less I will have to play very well to be in with a chance.
