2010 Chinese Years of the Tiger – Come on Tiger Woods this is your year. Take up my challenge to a match play round of golf to kick start your return. My golf in Bonmont, Barcelona is hampered by strong winds and rain – not quite what I had in mind for my winter practice. The new Ping i15 driver is starting to pay dividends, however the international course here at Bonmont is unforgiving off the tee. Looking forward to better weather tomorrow.
Dubai missed you Tiger. I have played the courses in Dubai and it is truly a wonderful experience, everything is 5star+ and glorious conditions, but did you notice the crowds or should I say ‘lack of crowds’. Tiger Woods you are my role model (only the golf part mum). I have read all your books watched all your videos and even helped you look for lost golf balls at the Open. Where are you? – surely your dad would have told you to ‘hold your chin up and get on with your job.’ Tiger, if you read this, I challenge you to a match – you choose the course I will be there. We, young golfers want you back and if I can lure you out then great. To anyone else who knows Tiger Woods please let him know I am ready, willing and able. Come on Tiger show yourself.
I have learned a lesson today on the golf course. Happily playing the 8th hole, the sun is shinning I am one under and I hear a shout across the fairway. “Jackson – you are wanted urgently at the clubhouse” I track my way back to find that a local TV station is on site and wanting to do an interview. My first reaction was – why me? I still don’t know why me but that’s not the point. Remember when your mum said, be sure to put on clean pants, you never know what might happen. Well I did have on clean pants, but, and to me it was a big but, I did not have my sponsors shoes on. Nebuloni Shoes, I rate as the most stylish of all golf shoes, and Nebuloni are kind enough to sponsor me and here is an opportunity to get on local Spanish television showing off my swing and I’m wearing Adidas Golf shoes. I was caught out – unprepared – could I have done things different? Anyway Nebuloni are the stylish shoe, if you don’t believe me ask
Miguel Angel Jimenez – they are certainly working for him in Dubai
After waiting weeks for the snow to clear, then came the rain. It is perfect timing that I find myself on a months golf in Spain. At last – playing a course and not freezing in a windy, damp and uninspiring driving range. Polo shirt and pants, no umbrella, no thermals, no mitts – heaven!!!
Today there was a matchplay order of merit, which I was paired up with post graduate Charlie Guest. Who plays off a handicap of 3 (i think). I was A/S after nine hole and about to play the 10th when the game got called off due to horendous weather. Which was a little unfortunate because we werent playing badly.
Today was a rather ordinary day with golf lessons in the morning and academics in the afternoon. Golf was promising with more swing thoughts and I was told that my swing is building up to be something really good. In the afternoon I went out to play golf because we had a free period, and i was spectating whilse Chris Olney and Jordan Holdway Battled it out over 9 holes, It was a good match with both golfers playing well however Chris Managed to pull through with a comfortable victory of 3 shots.
Today i played in an order of merit, Against Connor Brochurst. It was a good match in horendous conditions with thunder at one point!, however i pulled through for a 5 in 4 victory! after a steady par down 14. Yesterday I had a lesson with Dennis Pugh which was enlightening, with new swing keys to think about. Which helped me pull through todays round. All in all a good day. 🙂
Today was a order of merit competition, which I played consistantly to shoot a 70 +2, Could have been better when standing on the 16th tee i was 1 under par, nevertheless I should get cut for todays performance, which is always a positive.
As the first half of the term came to an end 2 weeks ago. I commence with the next half, I feel asthough I’m swinging it the best i have ever swung the club, and a busy week i have ahead of me. Tomorrow I have a lecture with mental coach Pete Cohen, which should be interesting and then the very next day I have a Order of Merit competition which i fancy my chances at.
Today was a pretty unsuccessful day with the competition. I did what Pete Cohen said and go out with no expectation and take it one shot at a time, however everyshot i played was up to scratch
